Event Details

Your story needs you: an opportunity to explore your shadow awaits.

As we move through the shadow season, these dark months offer us a unique time of introspection — when we can tap into our own inner wisdom and find the nourishing messages hidden deep within our souls. “Writing With Our Shadows” is your chance to tune into the parts of you that so often go unheard. Join Danielle Pope, The Story Midwife, and a community of like-minded writers, for a special workshop focused on exploring our shadows in a playful and intuitive journey.

Danielle will guide you through writing activities, exercises and prompts to enhance your practice and your compass of exploration as we navigate our way through the shadow side. Whether you’re arriving with a writing project in mind or a blank page, you’ll come away with a renewed focus on the parts of you longing to be heard, along with practical tools to enhance your writing practice, and an intimate network of writing allies to help keep you on track as you move forward.

We will gather on the evening of Friday, Dec. 7, from 6-9pm, with a goal of showing up to see what’s ready to arrive. Writers will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with Danielle and other attendees, with assignments tailored to help each individual move forward.

Course registration is limited to maintain an intimate environment. Tickets online only, or by registration in advance by e-transfer to danielle@thestorymidwife.ca.

FAQs

What is a “shadow side”? Is this content going to be dark?

This workshop is designed to explore the voice of the “shadow” — or the “other” side of ourselves we sometimes struggle to hear. This is not necessarily dark, but may be a quieter part of ourselves we are challenged to identify with. Yet, great wisdom can be found in this shadowy self, and our exploration is aimed to tap into its knowledge.

The course content will bring light to this “darkness” and shine a flashlight on the possibility of exploration within. Note: this is not a counselling course, nor group therapy, but rather a creative approach to hearing our own voice of inner wisdom.

What are my transportation/parking options?

Free parking is available around the studio, and the location is close to a number of bus routes.

What do I need to bring into the event?

Bring your favourite writing implements: pen, paper or laptop, and anything that enhances your creative inspiration. Light refreshments will be provided, but participants are also welcome to bring their own tea or snacks to nourish their creative practice.

Will there be a break?

Yes, there will be a short break at the midway point of the evening to enjoy refreshments and to connect with other community members.
