Patricia Galaczy is a dedicated mindfulness meditation practitioner with over 20 years’ experience, and one of few Canadian Instructors fully certified by The Center for Mindfulness to teach the MBSR curriculum.
Founded by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, the original Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program University of Massachusetts Medical School, Center for Mindfulness is the largest, and most continually researched MBSR program in the world.
For those who commit to the practice, the 8-week MBSR program is proven to reduce multiple negative dimensions of psychological stress.
The program is an intensive 8-week training that asks participants to draw on their inner resources and natural capacity to actively engage in caring for themselves and finding greater balance, ease, and peace of mind.
This program has improved thousands of participants’ ability to live and cope with chronic pain, illness, stress related conditions, and the stresses of everyday life.
By learning to actively participate in the management of health and well-being, many participants report they are better able to manage stress, fear, anger, anxiety, and depression both at home and in the workplace.
The MBSR 8-week program requires participants to commit to a regular mindfulness practice with the support of a well-researched and intentionally structured program. This highly participatory and supportive program will include:
- Guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practices
- Gentle body-awareness practices, stretching and mindful yoga
- Teaching and discussion
- Daily assignments to enhance awareness and integrate mindfulness in everyday life (improving communication, relating to stressors, strengthening relationships)
- Home practice and resource materials
